Do not criticise the speaker wallahi he is speaking the truth. There is no word in the language to describe ghariah better and so people do not understand what the speaker means. He doesn’t mean jealous in the sense of wishing you had what other people have. That is envy, a darkness in the heart and corrupts you if you feed it. He doesn’t mean jealous in the sense where you wish for something to be yours and instead of asking Allah for it and believing he will grant it to you, you start to envy the person that does have what you want and you question why they have it and not you. Ghairah in the sense the speaker is talking about is, honour and pride in preserving ones dignity! Imagine as a man how you would feel if your sister or mother was a porn-star? Or the local girl that everyone had slept with? You protect the honour of your Muslim sister because there’s is attached to you and yours is attached to them. Wallahi I see my Muslim sisters, that aren’t biologically related to me that are in haram relationships and I feel a sense of shame and anger and jealousy. Why have they reduced their honour!? And it extends further than that! In the workplace if somebody insults a male or female Muslim colleague instantly my protective jealousy flares up! Because I am them and they are me! We are one body, one ummah. Alhamdulillah I come from a culture where this is natural to us. I honestly believe it is in our fitrah to be protective jealous of our women, it’s what makes us men. Without ghairrah what kind of a man are you? That you wouldn’t defend the honour of your womenfolk

Sir, you indeed have most knowledge than any of us.As far as I am able to understand the term ghairah, it has meaning in terms of possession.Since, Allah(SWT) is alone the creator and originator of universes and the one who holds the edge of forever. Therefore, associating any partner with him is dishonesty, injustice and clear abuse of every source mankind has utilized to create such imaginary partner. In addition to that this is against the justice and rights that Allah(SWT) has upon us.We have already taken an oath from our rab when he asked:"Am I not your lord?" upon which we agreed. Therefore this is also against the oath we have taken from our khaliq. Therefore his possessiveness for his abd is beautiful and hence his ghirah is beautiful and amazing. If any believer truly understand his ghairah and literal meaning of his possession and his love and mercy therefore he will always pray to Allah(SWT) for showing off his possession and his ghairah. Allah(SWT) is merciful and benevolent and all seeing. (To best of my weak knowledge, May Allah subhana o tala guide us to the straight path)

What I understood of this video from the word JEALOUSY is being jealous to someone, is a kind of neutral or being natural feel jealous. When we feel jealous, we make dua and we remember Sunbhana Wa'Taala to clean our mind, and hearts to forget of feeling jealous. Maybe we jealous because of the things we don't have, but other people had it. There is a person who feel jealous, just like me. Yes, I am, I feel so jealous because some of my friends got their dreams in life, while me sitting at home. But the more we jealous, the more we pursue to be on that goals. In a halal ways. I will always feel jealous, maybe not contented but I know, it is a kind of bad to feel not contented. But u cannot ignore to feel jealous. Ya rabbi please forgive me and clean my heart from hatred. It is not easy to move on but I will try, as long as I live in the peaceful place, maybe that is enough.

For those confused - Do not confuse JEALOUSY with ENVY. Envy is evil. True jealously stems from love. False jealousy stems from insecurities and is a form of fear.

People commonly confuse jealousy and envy. Jealousy is fear of someone taking something from you. I think this is why he says Allah swt is jelous when we commit sin because it is like shaytan is taking us further from Him and this is something we should all fear when we see someone commit sin. Hope this clears it up for anyone whos confused and if i am wrong please correct me

That's not jealousy. Look up the definition of jealous in any dictionary, and you will find that none of the definitions match what is being described in the video. I'm sure that there is a word vastly more appropriate than jealous, to describe what is being discussed in the video. The use of the word jealous is both confusing and misleading.
Brother you should take this video down as although your intent is pure In Sha Allah, the word he uses, "Jealousy" is used within a very specific context in which maybe not all people may understand. This video is causing much confusion for others, it is my humbling opinion and wish that you take this video down to prevent any spread of misinformation.

if a man should be 'jealous' positively that is in protecting manner of your family especially the women, since a man in a way, accountable for the sins of women he involved with, doesn't that mean the man has to started off being a good example first? how do you expect a sister that be home before 12 when you yourself hangout with friends up to 3 to 4 am (and it's not like your sister is doing anything haraam only because the hour she reaches home). how can you so call protecting your woman from being touched by other man when you do mess around someone's daughter? how do you expect a virgin wife when you today contributed staining the purity of someone else's future wife? how is it that your woman must get covered up when you wear super shorts by the beach exposes your men's aurah and in many places you go and stare many half naked women top to toe? how do you expect a girl who doesn't talk with other guys even in just being friendly, when you obviously flirt around? man approving his woman's misbehave logically constructed from his own misbehave. men were equipped more to carry bigger responsibility and accountability to lead, and a leader would be followed by his surroundings. jealous is understandable, but look who is deserving or otherwise.

POSTED BY: Ishtiaq Azam AS " SALAM " ALYKUM !!!!!!! jealousy is of different types. arabic " hassad " is the envy / real jealously which is bad ...... but the word which this speaker is using in this video is " gharria ", this means the positive & protective jealousy. ......... so for example, ... if a muslim guy see another woman who is miss treated by a man or if someome try to flirt with his own daughter, mother, wife, and sister.... then he should protect them , it doesn't matter if the woman is strange or if they r his own wo women ......but if he don't protect them, then it means he is coward & has no feelings for that woman & also for his own women. ....... so muslim men should have this positive jealously. ...... because this why u can stop others from sinning ....... 3rd point in the video was a man who is not jealous, ... prophetspath forgot to put it in the translation. ....... so this means that a muslim man should have this positive jealously.

Like many have already suggested, the way 'jealously' is portrayed in this video is not clear. In the Qur'an it says in the context of jealousy: 'It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.' [43:32] From this paragraph, we can infer that being jealous of people due to there high ranks is unliked in Islam, as the 'mercy of' Allah 'is better than whatever they accumulate'. In western society, jealousy is defined as being in a state of envy. The concept of jealousy in this video and the term used by the majority of western society can potentially mislead many people who don't check their sources. The rest of the video is good though Alhamdullilah (All praises to God).

I can see why people would be confused from this, alhamdullilah my father was Arab and taught me these terms, otherwise I too would be confused. You think to yourself "wasn't Iblees banished from Jannah and Allahs mercy on account of his jealousy towards Adam (as) and pride in himself (this sin is called Kibr). So why now you say I must be jealous of my family? I think what you mean is, to be a responsible Muslim and protect your family from haraam so you AND your family can be accepted by Allah and enter Jannah, insha'Allah.

Asalamualaikum brothers and sisters, "Gheerah" is a positive type of Jealousy towards another creation that leads to a better world. For eg. A father would create a form of "gheerah" in his heart towards a foreign man who fornicates with his daugther. Similarly to Allah, without a doubt and beyond to our imagination, the impact of this disgrace act towards Allah is more heavy rather than the parents. Hope we all understand and apply "gheerah" in our hearts when it is necessary inshallah. Asalamualaikum

Here are 21 tips from our Prophet (SAWS) to help you erase your sins : 1) Repenting Allah says : "O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, if your sins reached the clouds of the sky and if you then ask forgiveness of Me, I will forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it." [Hadith Qudsi] 2) Performing Prayer The Prophet (SAWS) said :"When the time for a prayer comes, if any muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to for all times." [ Muslim ] 3) Performing Wudhu (ablution) The Prophet (SAWS) said :"He who performed ablution well, his sins would come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails." [ Sahih Muslim ] 4) Attending the Jumu'ah Salah (Friday Prayer) The Prophet (SAWS) said :"The five prayers and from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer is an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals) if major sins are not committed." [ Sahih Muslim ]. "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven." [ Sahih Al-Bukhari ] 5) Waiting for Prayer Messenger of Allah (SAWS) asked : "Shall I not tell you of something by means of which Allah erases sins and raises you in status?". They said :"Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He (saws) said : "Doing wudoo' well even when it is difficult, taking many steps to the mosques and waiting for praying after prayer. That is (equivalent) to guarding the frontier." [ Muslim ] 6) Doing good deeds Do more good deeds because Allah said :" Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (small sins)." [ Quran : 11 verse 114 ] 7) Performing Umrah and Hajj The Prophet (SAWS) said :"Whoever performs Hajj for Allah's pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew." [ Sahih Al-Bukhari ] "The performance of Umra is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise." [ Sahih Al-Bukhari ] 8) Saying 'Ameen' after the Imam The Prophet (SAWS) said :"When the Imam says 'Ameen', you should all say 'Ameen' at that time, and he whose 'Ameen' coincides with the 'Ameen' of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven." [ Bukhari ] 9) Calling out Adhaan The Prophet (SAWS) said :"The muadhin (the one who call out the prayer) will receive forgiveness to the extent to which his voice reaches, and every moist and dry place will testify on his behalf; and he who attends (the congregation of) prayer will have 25 prayers recorded for him." [ Aby Dawud ] 10) Walking to the Prayer Place The Prophet (SAWS) said :"If he performs ablution completely and then goes to the mosque with the sole intention of perfoming the prayer, and nothing urges him to proceed to the mosque except the prayer, then on every step which he takes towards the mosque, he will be raised one degree or one of his sins will be forgiven. The angels will keep on asking Allah's forgiveness and blessings for everyone of you so long as he keeps sitting at his praying place. The angels will say, 'O Allah, bless him! O Allah, be merciful to him!' as long as he does not do a thing which gives trouble to others." [ Bukhari ] 11) Giving charity The Prophet (SAWS) said :"The charity erases the bad deed like the water puts out the fire." [ Tirmidhi ] 12) Asking forgiveness from others on wronging them The Prophet (SAWS) said :"Whoever has oppressed another persons concerning his reputation or anything else, he should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Ressurection when there will be no money (to compensate for wrong deeds), but if he has good deeds, those good deeds will taken from him according to his oppression which he has done, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him." [ Bukhari ] 13) Reciting Salawaat (Blessings) on Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S The Prophet (SAWS) said :"He who sends blessings on me once Allah sends blessings on him ten times and removes from him ten times and raises him by ten degrees." [ al-Nasa'i ] 14) Being kind to animals The Prophet (SAWS) said :"A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with head-cover she drew out some water for it. So Allah forgave her because of that." [ Sahih Al-Bukhari ] 15) Praising Allah after Eating Food The Prophet (SAWS) said :" He who has taken food and says at the end : Al-hamdu lillahi-lladhi at'amani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghairi haulin minni wa la quwwatin (All praise is due to Allah Who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavor on my part or any power), all his past (minor) sins will be forgiven." [ At-Tirmidhi ] 16) Removing Obstacles from the Road or Way The Prophet (SAWS) said :" While a man was on the way, he found a thorny branch of tree on the way and removed it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him (his sins)." [ Bukhari ] 17) Hide Other's faults and sins The Prophet (SAWS) said :" He who conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah would conceal his faults in the world and in the Hereafter. Allah is at the back of a servant so long as the servant is at the back of his brother." [ Sahih Muslim ] He (saws) also said :" The believer will be brought close to his Lord until He conceals him and makes him confess hin sin. Allah will say, 'Do you remember such and such a sin?' The man will say, 'Yes, I admit it.' The Lord will say, 'I concealed it for you in the world and I forgave you for it today." [ Bukhari ] 18) Observing Patience during Hard Times The Prophet (SAWS) said :" Whenever a believer is stricken with a calamity (discomfort, illness, anxiety, grief or worry), even the pricking of a thorn, his sins are expiated for him." [ Bukhari, Muslim ] He (saws) also said :" When Allah loves someone He tests them, as for whoever is content Allah is pleased with him, and as for whoever is discontented, Allah is displeased with him." [Tirmidhi, classed as Hasan] 19) Making some dhikr The Prophet (SAWS) said :" Whoever says, 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi', 100 times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea." [ Sahih Al-Bukhari ] He (SAWS) said :" If anyone glorifies Allah after every prayer 33 times (SubhanAllah), and praises Allah 33 times (Alhamdulillah), and declares His Greatness 33 times ( Allah hu Akbar ), ninety-nine times in all, and to complete a hundred says : 'La ilaaha illal-lah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulk wa lahul-hamd wa huwa 'alaa kulli shai-in qadeer' his sins will be forgiven even if these are as abundant as the foam of the sea." [ Sahih Muslim ] He (SAWS) said :" If anyone says: Astaghfirullah-alladhi la ilaaha illa Huwal-Haiyyul-Qayyoumu, wa atoubi ilaihi ( I seek forgiveness of Allah besides Whom there is non worthy of worship, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance ), his sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield." In another narration, these words are to be repeated 3 times. [ Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi and Al-Hakim ] He (SAWS) said :" If anyone sits in an assembly where there is clamor and says before getting up to leave 'Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu Allah ilaaha illa-anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayka' (Glory to be to You, O Allah, I begin with declaring all praise is to You, I testify there is no god but You; I ask Your pardon & turn to You in repentance), he will be forgiven any sin (of the tongue) he might have committed in that assembly." [ Tirmidhi ] 20) Saying 'Subhan-Allah' 100 times Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas ( May Allah be pleased with him ) reported : We were with the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) when he asked :"Is anyone of you unable to earn a thousand good deeds?" One of those present asked: "How can one earn thousand good deeds in a day?" He (SAWS) replied :"By saying :'SubhanAllah 100 times, then 1000 good deeds will be recorded for him or 1000 sins will be blotted out from his record." [ Muslim ] 21) The best duaa for seeking forgiveness is to say : "Allahuma Anta Rabbi, la ilaha illa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika 'alayya, wa abu'u laka bidhanbi faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta." (O Allah! You are my Lord. There is no god except You. You have created, I am Your slave, I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon). He who supplicates in these terms during the day with firm belief in it and dies on the same day (before the evening), he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah; anf if anyone supplicates in these terms during the night with firm belief in it and dies before the morning, he will be one of the dwellers of Jannah." [ Al-Bukhari ] Share this with others so that you gain as much rewards as them practising. May Allah erase our sins and save us from the torment of Hell. Ameen

There is 2 types of jealousy, there is one is haram which called envy and hassad in arabic and this jealous is when you see someone having like a good car or a good job and you dont want him to have it, you want it only for yourself and this jealous is completely haram and prohibited,, and there is the other type of jealousy (the good jealousy) the one who is the speaker talking about , and this jealousy is like when you see your brother or your sister or family members or your friend committing haram and following the footsteps of the shaytan you should feel jealous and this jealous will push you to advice him and making your best effort to make him far from doing haram things , may Allah make it easy for you to understand ,Asslamo Alyakoum

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته brothers and sisters jealousy has multiple meanings, the one implied here is of Protection, of care and concern. like Jealously guarding etc, Ad-Dayyuth in Islam means someone who has lost his Ghiyra, his protective jealousy over his wife, or any female member of his household.  examples of Dayyuth behaviour... -Not caring about them not observing hijab and the proper Islamic dress. -They're okay with the female having idle talk with non-mahram men. Touching non-mahrem men. -Allowing them to commit acts which lose the females sense of hayaa. -Etc. نعوذ بالله من ذلك

jelousy is not the word for ghaira. it is confusing , jelousy is hasad which is not right. and the word he is talking "ghaira" it should be honour. ie if my sister dresses improperly it should be against my honour and I should persuade them not to do it. this is my conclusion about the word he was meant to say. if you agree take video down or correct it, otherwise it will create confusion. may Allah give us the better understanding of right path.

jealousy in this context is referring to having jealousy over your female relatives. for instance someone is flirting with your wife. it is your jealousy that leads to your hatred of this. so a man that doesn't get jealous, he won't care who flirts with his wife, sister or mother. so in regards to your female relatives Islam encourages jealousy.

Brothers and sisters, it is clear the speaker has misunderstood the meaning of jealously or mis-translated the Arabic term 'ghairah'. As long as you understand the video, overlook his mistakes, he is still making Dawah

i think by jealousy, he means religious jealousy. Such as being jealous of someone elses iman and wanting to get closer to Allah swt.
